The Tumbi Tyres story
After many years of industry experience Steve ‘Tumbi’ Corney decided to open Tumbi Tyres in 1987. His aim was to provide an alternative to the “big chain” style stores for the motorists of the Central Coast.
The original store was in Bon Mace Close, Tumbi Umbi, and after only a year of trading the success of the business saw the need to move to bigger premises in another building on the same street. Steve grew the business and continually diversified the range of products and services.
In 2000, the opportunity arose to purchase land near Mingara and the time was right to build a bigger and better purpose built workshop. The new building was designed specifically to the needs of a tyre & mechanical workshop with four tyre service bays, three mechanical service bays, a truck fitting bay, showroom and air-conditioned customer lounge as well as ample storage on a mezzanine level. This location on Mingara Drive is where the business still trades today.
Steve has a great level of knowledge and experience in the automotive industry having now owned and operated Tumbi Tyres almost four decades. With experience in all aspects of mechanical work, wheel alignments, tyre fitting and sales, he still oversees the day to day running of the workshop. More recently, he has also incorporated Trek & Bash car preparation into his busy schedule.
After experimenting with expanding and opening other stores in Long Jetty and Sydney, Steve realised the importance of the one shop, one owner theory. All resources and efforts are now focused on the one store in Tumbi Umbi. Having all energy focussed on the one shop, ensures that our staff can give our customers the fastest and best service possible.

I got Tumbi Tyres to replace the rotors and brake linings on my Skoda. They found the rear left pad was down to the metal and had damaged the caliper, which in turn prevented the EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) from working. They were told it could take 2 months before the caliper could come in (it actually arrived 16 days later). They could have just left me without a car for that time, but instead took the effort to get the car into a state where I could still drive it. They installed the caliper when it arrived and reconnected the EPB in super quick time and didn't charge me for the labour. Definitely a case of going above and beyond! Five stars from me!

After having two front new tyres put on my car by a local competitor with an alignement (shal not be named), My car was not driving straight as a result. I asked them to please fix it as it was not pulling to the left before the new tyres were on. After several attempts of addressing the issue, they could not help me any more. That's when Tumbi Tyres came to the rescue. Since I'm so pedantic about my steering wheel positioning and whether the car drives straight, I decided to seek help from Tubi Tyres. I gave them the back story and they were more than accommodating. They booked me the same day, took my car for a drive, acknowledged the slight drift and managed to fix the issue no problems at all. Highly recommend this team as they are professional and extremely attentive. Well done Tumbi Tyres and thank you!

Discovered a near flat front tyre at Bateau Bay shops around lunch on my landcruiser. So headed to Tumbi Tyres. They were busy, no car parks, no booking , I had to make my own carpark. Welcomed with a BIG smile from Kaz and “No worries we will get you sorted”. Waited with my elderly mother about 15minutes, given a lovely complimentary latte and cold water while we waited . It was all sorted promptly, so I could head back to pick my kids up from school at Terrigal and East Gosford. Thank you so much for helping me immediately and eliminating what could have been chaos if I hadn’t been back on the road to pick all my kids up! Really appreciate your immediate response , friendly staff and service.

Phil and the Team are amazing . Super accommodating and helpful. I’ve had several issues with my Hyundai IX 35 and since I’ve been servicing my car with them , my car has been reliable and functioning at its best .
They are also dog lovers and always happily greet my two Germans shepherds. Which is a big bonus.

I called up and spoke with Phil regarding an issue with my front tyres on my VE wagon which were causing the steering to pull to the left. He booked me in with an appointment to come to the workshop in half an hours time. Phil and the crew quickly identified the problem and had 2 new front tyres on my wagon which solved the steering issue. I'm very happy with the service, price and result. Highly recommended.

Recently booked in for new tyres and a wheel alignment. Staff were very helpful in choosing the right tyres based on my needs and got a great deal during a Black Friday sale. Was able to drop my car off and easily work remotely from nearby McDonald's or Mingara however it only took a couple of hours anyway. Great service, highly recommend!

Very Professional service. Turned up on time changed all 4 Tyres in 30 minutes. All the Tyre places in Raymond Terrace wanted $50 or $100 Dollars more per Tyre.👍

So grateful for your assistance. I got a flat tyre on the highway. A certain roadside assistance was of no assistance but these guys came to my rescue and had me back on the road before the ice melted in my drink. The young guy that came had such a lovely demeanour and was happy to lighten the mood with a laugh as he got me back on the road. Thank you to all the staff that were all so helpful.

Checked the tyres and noticed air deflating from the rear tyre. Upon further inspection, I saw a screw in the rear tyre. I called Tumbi Tyres and was welcomed with a warm reception. They tasked me to bring it in within the next half an hour. I was flabbergasted as I didn't expect such a quick service. If your around the area don't hesitate.

On Saturday 21/9 I got a flat tyre on the M1 just past Ourimbah. All the local tyre places I called were closing at 2pm and weren’t interested in my dilemma, let alone helping me out. My last chance was Tumbi Tyres. They also were closing at 2pm. However, they very kindly, and with a smile, waited for me to arrive and happily replaced my tyre. Highly recommend these guys. Their service is second to none.

Just popped into Tumbi Tyres about not being able to get my metal caps off two of my tyres. Patrick knew what the problem was straight away & helped me out without hesitation. Even put air in my tyres saving me doing it myself. I was extremely impressed & wouldn’t hesitate to go there for tyres, wheel alignment or anything I need. His customer service was out of this world. Very impressed.

Hi, I needed to buy a pair of A/T tyres at late notice yesterday afternoon. I phoned the store 30 mins prior to their closing time and Phil took the call. He was able to assist with a great price too! I was on the road again as they locked up the store / garage just on 5pm. Thanks Phil & Kaz great customer service.

Called so many other 24/7 mobile tyre repair guys and was Let down. I was about to give up until I called Tumbi Tyres.
On Sunday afternoon, was stranded with a flat tyre and was 4 hours away from home. I had no spare tyre on the trailer and was stressing.
Spoke to Steve, was very professional and advised he will send someone out within the hour.
Exactly one hour pasted and Brad arrived to the rescue. Brad was very professional and went above and beyond to get me out of trouble.

Only do what it’s needed and are well priced. So refreshing to come across genuine mechanics, who aren’t looking to you to the cleaners
whilst initially having an issue with these guys, they were very prompt in rectifying the problem. very impressed with the cordially and professionalism they took in rendering an issue from miscommunication. they provided stellar service and took extra steps in ensuring the customer has left satisfied. will definitely be returning and taking my business to this local tyre place. i would highly recommend this business. they have definitely gone above and beyond for this grump.

Great to get your car service here, Mark has been here for years, great bloke, and he will organise your car for repairs, with the great mechanics on hand, especially the singing mechanic, happy chap.

Highly recommend! We had a great first experience with Tumbi Tyres a week ago when we found a puncture at the end of the day, knowing we had a full on day of kids activities the next day was a little concerning with one car 🤦♀️. They were so helpful, knew what time we needed to head off by and arrived before then. They were transparent in giving us both costs of out of hrs and in hrs call out fees, and their pricing is affordable and good quality of product (offered us both a cheaper option tyre and then the better quality option). We will definitely be using them again

This was on a sunday afternoon and we tried every 24hr service, tire or mechanic and even 24hr towing companies with no one willing to help on a sunday until someone meantioned Tumbi tyres.
Not only were they quick and did an awsome job but the tyres were cheaper than if i had purchased off the shelf in sydney.
Brad our mechanic that showed up should be doing F1 pits, Crazy fast, super helpful
and also happily answered our amateur questions.Cheers Brad your a bloody legend owe you a beer mate.
p.s I nearly never leave reviews good or bad but These guys absolutely deserve 6 stars.

Not only were they quick and did an awsome job but the tyres were cheaper than if i had purchased off the shelf in sydney.

Woke to a flat tyre this week, in the rain, no way to get to work or change the tyre. Spoke to the guys at Tumbi Tyres, even though they had a full day they had someone at my house and tyre changed within the hour (NRMA couldn't get there till late afternoon). Very grateful, thank you guys !!!I was at work before 9.20am and their service and professionalism was 5 star.
Went in today to get the repaired puncture tyre refitted and a pink slip. Had me on my way within half hour, didn't charge me for unnessacry things like so many companies do. The staff are lovely, they went out of their way to help me when I was stranded and so friendly and efficient today. I'll definitely be using them in future, highly rexommend !

Had a tire blowout in Tumbi Umbi last week. After changing the tire, I drove here to have it fixed up. Quick and efficient they had me fixed up in 20 minutes.

Tumbi Tyres is an amazing service. I got a flat tyre, they were so helpful on the phone. Made a stressful situation, a lot less stressful. Came and sorted out my car within the hour. Then fitted me in for a wheel alignment at short notice. Very friend staff in the office as well as the guy that fixed my tyre. So professional and willing to help. Amazing service. Will only use these guys on the coast going forward.
